To Draw is to Know Oneself
The desire to understand oneself lies within us all, yet it is no simple task. It calls for presence—for the heart to be truly engaged. Much like how we eat three meals a day, yet without mindfulness, even the finest food loses its flavor.
I draw to dive deep into the river of my inner world. What drawing grants me, most beautifully, is a rightful space to reflect, to gaze inward with honesty. The faded shadows of memory—fragmented and elusive—gather shape once more, rising into clarity like a map unfolding in my hands. In those moments, I am more than just Phuong – an individual; I become a thread in the fabric of a community, a culture that birthed and nurtured me.
This website is more than a portfolio. Its true purpose is to keep safe the pages of my visual diary—pages that hold immense personal meaning, lest they be scattered and lost.

To Paint is to Enter Parallel Worlds

For many years, I’ve recorded my dreams with great seriousness—in many forms: journals, voice memos, and drawings.
As such, a large part of my work is devoted to recreating the world of my dreams.
These dreams are often vivid, filled with recurring landscapes that return over the years, and countless tangled paths of entry. To draw these scenes is to let the unconscious rise to the surface—a way of shedding light, however faint, on their hidden meanings.
